⭐ Prefix Word List

Print out our Words That Start with the Letter U for Kids. As you read through it, you’ll find quite a few words using the prefix un-. Read through the list with your child and have them highlight the prefix un- whenever they see it. This is a simple way to start forming an understanding that prefixes are word parts at the beginning of a base word.

Word Creation Station

Using cut up index cards, sticky notes, or scraps of paper, write down a variety of prefixes, suffixes, and base words onto the pieces of paper. Invite your child to experiment with combining pieces of paper, adding different prefixes and suffixes to the base words and writing down the new words they create. They can also illustrate or act out the meanings of the new words.
