Learning the letters of the alphabet is a crucial part of your child’s reading journey. Add some hands-on practice with the letters of the alphabet to help keep young learners engaged.
The following letter B crafts are designed for young children to complete with adult supervision and can help them better recognize the shape and sound of the letter B.
These 10 letter B crafts and activities will require the outline of a letter B. You can draw one yourself or find one in our free printable collection of letter B worksheets.
1. B is for Blue
For an easy letter B activity, draw or print an outline of the letter B (upper or lowercase) onto white paper. Have your child fill in the outline with blue stickers.
You could also have your child use blue art supplies, such as blue crayons or a blue marker.
If using blue stickers, add a math challenge to the activity and work with your child to count the number of stickers used.

2. B is for Bee
Trim out an upper or lowercase letter B from yellow construction paper using a pair of scissors. Then have your child cut thin strips of black construction paper.
Adhere the black paper strips to make stripes onto the yellow letter B.
Cut two small wings from the black or yellow construction paper and glue them beneath the straight line of the letter B to form the bee’s wings. Add antennae and eyes to make a bee!

3. B is for Brown Bag
Reinforce the shape and sound of the letter B while reviewing colors.
In this torn-paper craft, have your child rip up a brown paper bag (or blue or black scrap paper) into small pieces. Then, help them glue the small pieces to fill in the B outline.
Manipulating the torn paper is a great way to work on fine motor skills, and getting the different sizes of paper to fill in the B is like solving a puzzle.

4. B is for Buttons
This is another great activity for practicing fine motor skills as children learn about the letter B.
Using a pencil, trace or outline the letter B or use our printable letter B template. Have your child place buttons of their choosing along the letter B outline.
To practice with the idea of “bigger” and “smaller,” have your child line the outside of the B with larger buttons and the inside of the B with smaller buttons.
Add in color and counting practice by asking your child to pick a certain number of colored buttons. For example, you could say “Please use 3 blue buttons next.”

5. B is for Butterfly
For this letter craft, ask your child to take inspiration from nature. Look at different butterflies and their typical wing shape and colors. Bring those observations inside as you create this craft.
Start by drawing or cutting out an upper or lowercase letter B or printing out our letter B template.
Using scissors, trim out butterfly wings from construction paper. Layer
different colors and sizes of paper to make a unique butterfly of your own.
Then, draw antennae on top of the butterfly with a black marker to complete the craft.

6. B is for Building Blocks
Pull out any kind of building blocks or bricks for this letter B activity. Print out or draw an outline of the letter B on paper or cardboard.
Then, have your child place the blocks to fill in the letter. Getting bricks to fit the outline and around the curves of the letter B may be tricky!

7. B is for Black Bat
Using a scissors, trim out the letter B from black construction paper.
Next, cut out two bat wings, two pointy triangle bat ears, and a pair of eyes from
the construction paper. You could also use googly eye stickers.
Glue the wings, ears, and eyes onto the letter B to create a Letter B Bat.

8. B is for Beans
Print out or draw the outline of an upper or lowercase letter B and fill a bowl with dried beans.
Apply liquid glue to fill the entire letter B and then have your child place beans on top of the glue to fill in the letter B.
This activity is another great way to help children grow their fine motor skills.

9. B is for Balloons
Have your child use markers, crayons, or colored pencils for this activity.
Print out or draw the outline of an upper or lowercase letter B. Then, work with your child to fill the B with drawings of balloons.
Drawing balloons is a great way to practice shapes, as children draw a circle with a small triangle underneath it.
Alternatively, you can also have your child try writing the letter B inside the B for practice.

10. B is for Boat
For this letter B craft, you’ll need a few different colors of construction
paper.
Using a scissors, cut out the letter B from our letter B template. Next, cut out ocean waves from blue paper. Then, cut a simple boat shape with different colors of construction paper.
Invite your child to assemble the boat alongside the letter B and glue it into place.
