Letter C Crafts & Activities for Preschoolers

Simple crafts make learning about the letter C extra fun for preschoolers, especially when they only require a few household items.

Keep kids engaged with learning the letters of the alphabet with crafts and activities focused on the letter C. Children should complete the following letter C crafts with adult supervision as they continue practicing with the shape and sound of the alphabet’s third letter.
Some of these letter C crafts and activities require the outline of a letter C. You can draw one yourself or find one in our free printable collection of letter C worksheets.
1. C is for Carrot
This sensory craft connects the letter C with a popular snack (carrots) and turns them into a unique painting tool! Add in some math practice by counting the number of carrots your child creates on their paper.
Required Materials
- baby carrots sliced in half and trimmed to a point
- white paper
- orange and green paint
- paint brush
How To
Cut baby carrots in half and pat dry with a towel. If the carrots are wet, the edge of the carrot stamp will not be crisp.
Squirt a bit of orange and green paint onto a paper plate (acrylic craft paint works best for this activity). Then, dip a carrot, flat side down, into the orange paint and stamp it onto the paper. You can also use a paint brush to add the paint onto the carrots instead of dipping. Create a pattern and paint green leaves on top of each carrot.
Tip: You can also try stamping with larger carrots and gluing bits of cilantro or parsley on top for a fun twist!
2. C is for Caterpillar
Create a whimsical paper-chain caterpillar with just glue and construction paper. You can also use the caterpillar as a fun way to count down to an event, cutting off a link of the paper chain for each day that passes.
Required Materials
- construction paper

How To
Trim paper into long 2 inch-wide strips. Curve the first strip so it forms a circle and glue the ends of the strips together. Do the same with the next strip of paper, looping it through the first strip. Continue on until you have about 8 to 10 links.
Create a cute caterpillar face with markers, stickers, or googly eyes on either the first or last link. If you’d like the face to stand out more, use different colored paper to create it.
3. C is for Cute Cow
This adorable cow comes together quickly with just crayons, a paper plate, and some construction paper. No doubt you and your child will have a moo-velous time customizing this creation!
Required Materials

How To
Have kids use crayons, colored pencils, or markers to draw large black cow spots onto the paper plate and color them in. Your child will notice the edges of the plate have a different texture, which can add to the fun.
Next, draw in big eyes or glue on some googly eyes. Then, trim horns, ears, and a snout from construction paper. Adhere the snout onto the middle of the plate and the horns and ears to the backside of the plate to finish your cow.
Tip: Keep this project even easier by gluing the paper plate to a piece of construction paper and drawing in the horns and ears right above the paper plate. You can draw the snout right onto the plate too.
4. C is for Cat
Turn the letter C into a clever cat with construction paper and a few craft supplies. Use the letter C template in our letter C worksheets to create the shape of the letter C.
Required Materials

How To
Use a pencil to draw a large block-letter C onto a piece of construction paper or cut out a letter C template and trace it onto a piece of construction paper. Using scissors, cut out the letter C from the construction paper.
Next, cut out two triangle-shaped ears and a tail and nose and glue them onto the upper half of the letter C. You can also draw the cat’s nose on with a marker. For the eyes, use googly eyes, draw them on, or cut them from a piece of construction paper. Use a marker to draw in a few stripes, then add the finishing touch to your cat by using paper, yarn, or thread to create a few whiskers.
5. C is for Counting
In this letter C activity, children not only work with the letter C, they count it too!
Required Materials
- paper
- sticky notes, stickers, or colored paper
- black marker
How To
For this learning activity, choose a few different paper colors and cut them into smaller squares or shapes of your choice. You can also use sticky notes or blank stickers. Write the letter C onto each small piece of paper or sticker.
On the blank sheet of paper, draw intersecting lines to divide the page into four parts. In each section, arrange one color of letter C squares, sticking with 1 to 5 squares. Have your child count the number of Cs in each section and write their answer down. Alternatively, you can write a number into each space and ask your child to fill it with that amount of letter C squares.

6. C is for Cotton Swab Art
Simple cotton swabs become art tools when children use them to create the letter C with polka dots. This fine motor skill activity is a great way to help reinforce the shape of the letter C.
Required Materials
- paper
- cotton swabs
- paint
How To
Begin by using a pencil to lightly draw several letter Cs onto the blank sheet of paper. Then, dip a cotton swab into paint and have children carefully trace the pencil letter with dots or one continuous line. Leave blank space at the bottom of the paper for children to try using the cotton swab to make the C shape on their own.
Tip: Using a cotton swab as a painting tool may be something kids want to explore more. Have some extra sheets of paper and paint available for kids to get creative.
7. C is for Cotton Ball Clouds
Fluffy white cotton balls transform into wispy or fluffy clouds when pulled apart and glued onto paper. This is a fun sensory activity that creates an opportunity to talk about the letter C, different types of clouds, and the weather!
Required Materials
- cotton balls
- construction paper
- glue
How To
Cut out simple cloud shapes from blue or white construction paper. Then, work with your child to pull apart the cotton balls to create fluffy bits.
Glue the cotton pieces onto the paper clouds to create fluffy clouds with dimension and texture. You can make larger clouds by arranging and adhering whole cotton balls onto the paper
Tip: Many types of clouds start with the letter C, such as cirrus, cirrocumulus, cirrostratus, cumulus, and cumulonimbus.
8. C is for Circles
Use a paper punching tool to easily create circles for your child to arrange in the shape of the letter C.

How To
Gather a collection of different colored construction paper. Using a round paper punch, punch out circle shapes in a variety of colors. Have kids glue the circles to form the letter C. You can use circle stickers here too.
9. C is for Coloring Crabs with Crayons

10. C is for Cruising Car
Piece together a car of your creation by cutting out the body and wheels and gluing them onto construction paper.

How To
Using construction paper, cut out a car shape, two wheels, and two
windows. Have your child glue the parts of the car together. If you have the time, cut out several different car shapes for kids to pick from.
You can decorate this further by drawing simple stick figures onto the windows with a marker or inviting children to draw in scenery around the car.
