Trace the letter M onto a sheet of brown construction paper and cut it out. Then, cut out two small semi-circles for ears, and repeat the process with pink construction paper, making these semi-circles slightly smaller than the first. Next, trim out six long skinny strips from black construction paper to create the mouses’s whiskers.

Invite your child to turn their letter M into a mouse, helping them glue down the ears and whiskers. For the final step, add the googly eyes and a cute little nose with the pink pom pom.

The instructions for this craft are easy and loaded with fun: Create many different monsters by shaping playdough into various forms and adorning it with googly eyes and pipe cleaners.

Let your child get inventive with each monster’s shape and the number of eyes and arms they have. You can even use bits of yarn for hair and add in sequins or plastic gems for more embellishments.

This activity underscores the unique shape of uppercase and lowercase letter Ms by challenging children to create them from the halves of each version.

Prep this activity by writing several letter Ms in both cases on sticky notes. Cut each letter M in half and mix them up. Ask children to match up the correct halves to re-assemble the letter Ms, creating both uppercase and lowercase versions.

How To

Prior to creating this letter M craft, call your child’s attention to the moon and how it changes over time. Then, create the moon and a few of its phases as a way to explore the sound of the letter M and the moon.

Have your child pick one (or several) phases of the moon to create on paper. Snip out the moon’s shape and a few clouds from the white construction paper and add a few stars with yellow construction paper (or white crayons). Glue these items on a black sheet of paper so the moon and stars can shine brightly!

Have your child draw several circles onto a sheet of paper. Then, ask them draw a nose and mouth onto each circle, turning them into faces. They can either draw in eyes or glue down googly eyes. For the final step, have them use the black paint to add a unique mustache to each face–the sillier the better!

How To

Draw the shape of a pair of mittens on a piece of construction paper. Then, have your child select another color of construction paper to create the mitten’s cuffs. Cut these pieces out. Glue the cuffs onto the mittens, and then have your child add whatever decorations they’d like to personalize them.

How To

Draw or print out the outline of the letter M. Cut out small squares of paper and write the letter M on them. Then, write a few other letters on to the remaining squares.

Ask your child to sort through all the mixed up letters, finding only the letter Ms. Then, have them glue the Ms down to fill in their outline of the letter M.

How To

Set a piece of thicker paper into a shallow box. Have your child select two colors paint, and squirt a bit of each color onto a paper plate. Dip the marble into the paint and set it on the paper in the box. Then, have your child tilt the box around, causing the marble to roll all over the paper, leaving a colorful trail behind it. Repeat the process with the other paint color, reloading the marble as needed.

Tip: Keep the letter M front and center by having your child use the marble to paint over a letter M outline.

How To

Draw out the shape of a mushroom cap on the red construction paper. Draw the shape of a mushroom stem onto the brown pieces of paper. Work with your child to cut these shapes out and glue them together. Have your child add white splotches to the mushroom cap with paint. Or, they can try covering the mushroom with the letter Ms!

Let your child practice creating “still life” art by using a real mango to inspire their work. Simply place a mango near your child and invite them to try drawing it and coloring it in. Then, slice up the mango to enjoy while you admire your child’s art!
