Tips for Using the Letter R Worksheets
Download and print these letter R preschool worksheets and keep them in a folder for quick activities to pull out when you need something fun and educational. You can bring these in the car or to restaurants and appointments to help pass the time.
- Build Writing Skills: Have your child practicing by tracing the uppercase and lowercase Rs with their finger, then have them move on to using crayons or pencils. Vary the colors to make the exercise more engaging.
- Assemble an R book: Put together all the letter R worksheets into a book. Make a cover by decorating a blank page with letter R pictures.
- Color Creatively: Encourage children to try a variety of ways to fill in the letter coloring pages. They can use dot markers or cotton swabs dipped in paint; fill the letter with small stickers; or even cut out the letters for some fine motor skill practice.
Reinforce Learning with Letter R Activities:
- Have a race: After coloring their letter R coloring pages, tape two of them to a wall in an area with clear and open space. Line up with your child. The first person to say an R word and race to the R worksheet wins!
- Enjoy rain and rainbows: If it’s a rainy day, look out the window and talk about the sights and sounds of the rain and the benefits it can bring to the outdoors. When the rain stops, look for a rainbow. Not raining? Listen to clips of rain sounds while coloring in pictures of rainbows or finishing the R worksheets.
- Rhyme Time: Take turn saying a word that starts with the letter R and trying to rhyme a word with it. For example, if your child says “run,” then you can say “fun.” On the next turn, you could say “rat,” and your child could say “hat.”
