Activities to Extend Learning with Your Vowel Practice Worksheets
Recommended for: Second grade
⭐ Vowel Sound Stories
Ask your child to write short stories using words from their vowel practice worksheets that contain certain vowel sounds or as many different vowel sounds as possible. Then have your child read their story to you and point out where they used different vowel sounds.
⭐ Vowel Sound Scavenger Hunt
After completing their vowel sound worksheets, have your child pick one sheet for this exercise. Ask your child to pick one word featured on their worksheets that has a vowel sound. Then challenge them to find an object in the house that uses that same vowel sound in its name.
⭐ Word Sorting
Challenge your child to sort all of the words highlighted in their vowel practice worksheets into groups based on vowel sounds or vowel teams.
