Number Scouts: Word Problems

Number Scouts: Word Problems is geared towards 2nd grade learners and challenges them to solve two-step addition and subtraction word problems at the Donation Center where the scouts are volunteering. As children play the game, they’ll practice how to break apart two-step story problems so they can correctly gather the information they need to solve the problem. The scout will prompt players to find specific parts of the story problem and challenge them to solve the equations within each story problem. As kids tackle real-life scenarios, they can strengthen their mathematical reasoning, build confidence in handling complex equations, and help improve their proficiency in addition and subtraction.
